At 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6, come to meet Ruby A. Beaulieu and David Narcomey with the Florida American Indian Movement organization and see an excerpt from the PBS documentary, “Alcatraz is not an Island,” illustrating the Native American Occupation at Alcatraz Federal Prison during the late 1960s. This documentary examines the personal sacrifices, tragedies, social battles and political injustices many Native Americans experienced, and how a group of Native American students started the “Red Power” movement. Ruby A. Beaulieu and David Narcomey will be open to discussion and engagement on Native American issues here in Florida.
