April 9 Oral History Workshop

On Wednesday, April 9 from 10 AM to 5 PM, the Samuel Proctor Oral History Program (SPOHP) is facilitating an oral history workshop for the public. Dr. Paul Ortiz, University of Florida history professor and vice president of the Oral History Association, will lead the workshop along with the award-winning SPOHP staff. Topics covered will include:

  • Oral history’s role as evidence
  • Organizing an oral history project
  • Best practices for community field work
  • Resources for research
  • Conducting an interview
  • Recording and Filming an interview
  • Editing video and audio files
  • Processing an oral history interview
  • Sharing your work in the community

This is a unique opportunity to gain new skills and network with other scholars in the field. The workshop fee is a sliding scale of $135-200, which includes lunch and use of SPOHP’s equipment, as well as consulting support.
