The Samuel Proctor Oral History Program offers meaningful ways for students, faculty, staff, and community partners to learn, collaborate, and participate in oral history work. As an active, student-focused, community-engaged program, SPOHP supports hands-on learning, interdisciplinary research, public engagement, and ethical archival practice through coursework, training, internships, project partnerships, and archival resources. 

Whether you are a student interested in getting started, a faculty member exploring oral history in your teaching or research, or a community partner looking to collaborate, this section is designed to help you find the right path. SPOHP’s work is organized across interviewing, scholarship and creative activities, teaching and training, and archival stewardship and public access, making this a place not only to learn about oral history, but to do it.

This page offers guidance for students and researchers who want to begin an oral history project, learn the basics of oral history methods and ethics, or understand IRB considerations and project planning. SPOHP regularly offers training workshops and oral history instruction. 
Faculty & Community Partnerships SPOHP works with faculty, campus units, and community collaborators across Florida and the Southeast to design projects, provide training, support oral history research, and preserve interviews for future use.   Interview Permissions, Depositing, & Forms Find guidance on permissions, deeds of gift, required documentation, and how to prepare interviews for possible accession into the SPOHP archive. This page will also connect users to forms and practical information about depositing interviews and using SPOHP materials responsibly.
