Join the Samuel Proctor Oral History Program for two days of celebration and entertainment at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. This event will honor all students who attended Lincoln High School by extending them an honorary membership into the graduating class of 1965.
Dr. Rebekah Cordova, an education specialist, will talk about creating new lesson plans on African American history for K-12 classrooms, by utilizing the oral histories captured by the Samuel Proctor Oral History Program (SPOHP). This event is a collaborative initiative with the Department of Linguistics, funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
The event will begin with a presentation by Prof. Clay Clavert, the Brechner Eminent Scholar Emeritus and former Director of the Marion B. Brechner First Amendment Project at the University of Florida.
A panel of four distinguished spring activists and scientists will present their perspectives on how to evaluate the health of Florida springs. Topics that will be discussed include increasing nitrogen levels, the role of dissolved oxygen, and the change in flow rates in the springs.
"The Life of Oscar Mack" aims to reveal the truth and bring closure to everyone affected by this story of bravery and resilience. Descendants of Oscar Mack will be in attendance and will discuss his legacy and the importance of the film.
