The Oral History Association‘s 47th Annual Meeting will take place this year at the historic Skirvin Hilton in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The meeting is scheduled for October 9-13, 2013, focusing on the theme of “Hidden Stories, Contested Truths: The Craft of Oral History.” Each year, the Annual Meeting offers opportunities to learn, discuss, and review almost every aspect of oral history practice.
The Samuel Proctor Oral History Program will be presenting two panels at the OHA conference, “Education and Social Change in Oral History” on Friday, October 11 in Centennial Ballroom 1 and “Lessons from the Delta: Oral History, Heritage, and Civil Rights” on Sunday, October 13.
The Samuel Proctor Oral History Program will also be accepting the “Vox Populi” award from the Oral History Association at the conference’s award banquet on Saturday, October 12, where SPOHP’s partner organization, McComb Legacies, will also be honored with the Martha Ross Teaching Award. The Oral History Association recognizes outstanding work with oral history through seven special awards each year.
