The Arkansas Humanities Council recently awarded a $13,200 grant to the Elaine Legacy Center to plan and implement commemoration of the Elaine 12’s Supreme Court victory in the case known as “Moore vs. Dempsey.”The event will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022, the 99th anniversary of Oliver Wendell Holmes’ reading of the US Supreme Court decision. The symposium will feature Rev. Judge Wendell Griffen, Dr. Paul Ortiz, and Ms. Lenora Marshall. The symposium will be a hybrid format of both a virtual zoom platform and an in-person gathering at the Elaine Legacy Center, 313 College Ave., Elaine AR.
