We’re Tired of Asking

On February 2, the Matheson History Museum will open its newest exhibit: “We’re Tired of Asking: Black Thursday and Civil Rights at the University of Florida.” On April 15th, 1971, 66 Black students were arrested during a peaceful demonstration for the better treatment of Black students and faculty. When then President Stephen C. O’Connell declined to provide these students amnesty, two Black faculty members and 123 Black students left UF.

We invite you to join us as we honor the 66 brave students arrested on Black Thursday, as well as those who stood and still stand in alliance with their message for change.
