Moutalaske (Trk. Talas) in Cappadocia was the point of origin for the paternal grandparents of one of the descendants interviewed on Day 5. The young man pictured was the descendant’s father, who was a lover of the arts and the rebetiko music genre. A theme that emerged during this interview was that of mutual love and admiration between ethnic groups in Moutalaske. “The one thing they always said was it was never ever the people. It was the politicians that caused the divisions.”
