This past May I visited the Pacific Northwest to conduct interviews with descendants of immigrants from the former Ottoman Empire. During the next few weeks and months, I will share some of my findings. I would like to begin by introducing a new addition to the collection of documents which are a part of the Ottoman Greeks of the US Archive. This is a birth certificate donated by Mr. George Rallis. It documents the baptism of his mother in Mudanya (Grk. Mountania) which was part of the “Eastern Orthodox Church in the Metropolis of Proussa”. George’s mother was baptized Aikaterine Ioulia on January 18, 1916.
