Dr. Yiorgo Topalidis

Dr. Yiorgo Topalidis holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Florida and is the Assistant Director of the Samuel Proctor Oral History Program. Yiorgo’s research interests are White identity construction, contestation, and transgenerational memory transfer. Dr. Topalidis is the current holder of the Modern Greek Studies Association’s John O. Iatrides Prize for Best Dissertation in English (2022 – 2025). His dissertation has also been nominated for the 2023 American Sociological Association’s Best dissertation prize, and he is currently working on a manuscript adaptation of his dissertation. Dr. Topalidis is the founder and coordinator of the Ottoman Greeks of the United States Digital History Project at the University of Florida’s Samuel Proctor Oral History Program.

Denise Matthews

Dr. Denise Matthews is a documentary filmmaker who has won 14 national video production awards and directed more than 100 video productions. Communication Professor Denise Matthews’ video production students have also won state and national awards for their TV advertisements, documentary films and educational videos.

Chrysovalantis Stamelos

Mr. Chrysovalantis Stamelos resides in Izmir, Turkey but was born and raised in the United States. In addition to teaching at the historical American College in Izmir, Mr. Stamelos is an accomplished documentary film producer, director, and writer. His films, Hello Anatolia (2013), and Journey through Smyrna (2016) have won accolades along with the hearts and minds of viewers.
